TWO BY TWO

My paternal grandma & granddad, Harriet ‘Hattie’ Bell Smedley Bradley, and Frank Herbert Bradley – newly married in 1906.  He rented a room in the home where she and her mother lived and that's how & where they met.  Frank was the youngest of 12 children and came to America with his mother and 5 older sisters when he was 5 years old.

My Grandma and Granddad Bradley in later years – maybe the 1920s or '30s.

My Dad and Mom, Herbert Kinsey Bradley and Lillian Adelle Whitney on a beach somewhere in 1937-38.

Dad & Mom on their wedding day, June 17, 1939.

Mom and Dad in 1975.  I love this picture because of the way he’s looking at her.

My husband, Kit, and me on the beach at D.L. Bliss State Park, Lake Tahoe in 1957 when we were 17.

And on our wedding day 11 years later.

And the following year we added another member to our family – our son. (We already had the dog.  He came with the husband.

P.S.

Leave us not forget these love birds - my little pigeon, Ella, and her mate, Prince Charming.  I often wonder how she’s doing?  The gals who run the aviary where she is now tell me all the birds are doing great, so I take that hopefully to mean Ella, too.  I really miss being able to see her as I did when she was up here in my area.

    1. Mom told me at the time she and Dad met working for the same company, there were several other couples who also met at the company & they all used to get together on weekends for trips to the beach or hiking in a park or some such. She said it was a really special time for all of them & several of the couples, like my parents, did wind up getting married.

  2. Great photos of some couples...love that they liked having their photos while in swim wear while young!

    1. I was kind of making a unison comparison of the beach pix - to wedding pix - to later pix with both my parents and my husband and me. :)

  3. All perfect and I knew you'd have this theme covered. Your last portrait made me laugh as your story of Ella the pigeon was one of my favorites. Maybe you could resurrect it for a S.S. theme on animals.

    1. I really do miss seeing her every week as I used to when she was close. It was such a special time and such a surprise the way we met. If we have an animal theme come up, I will certainly consider using her story again. It was a rather unique thing the way our relationship came about. :)
