ALL IN THE FAMILY TWO BY TWO - PART 3

Once upon a time there was a young man – Henry (Harry) Edgar Brasier, seen here with his dog.  He still had a little growing up to do, but he was on his way.

There was also a lovely young woman, Lillian Ross Pringle on the left, (who preferred to be called “Ross”), here with one of her older sisters – Florence, I believe.  Ross had 3 older sisters, and 6 older brothers.  She was the youngest of 12 children. (Two, who would have been older brothers, died at young ages.)

And here are their mothers: On the left is Harry’s mother, Annie (Weatherhead) Brasier, and on the right, Ross’s mother, Margaret (Forbes) Pringle.

It is not recorded how the young man and young woman met, but meet they did, fell in love, and in 1909, were married.

Here are the lovebirds on their honeymoon.  She was 28, and he was 30.

The following year, 1910, Ross was holding her firstborn – a little girl they named Virginia Rossmore Brasier.

Two years later Virginia had a younger sister, Phyllis, both seen here admiring their ‘lovies’ c. 1914.

And here they are as teens on the beach in 1926.

In or around 1927 Virginia is holding a much younger sister, Peggy (Margaret Anne), born in 1925.  Fifteen years Virginia’s junior, Peggy was a bit of a surprise!  The family was on their way - driving from Toronto to California but stopped over for a while in Chicago where Peggy was born.  They eventually continued their trip to southern California where they took up permanent residence.

Virginia married in 1932 and in 1941, instead of holding her youngest sister, she was holding her son, Christopher.

Christopher’s mother and father liked to take him to the beach.

And his Aunt Peggy - all grown up, now - liked to cuddle with him.

Christopher had an older brother, Charles,

and a younger sister. Melinda.

Here are sister and brother together several years later – she having just graduated with top honors from chiropractic school.

Christopher was around 11 when he had his first date - taking the girl down the street to a matinee movie at the local cinema.  She didn’t figure much further in his future, however.  Six years later he met someone who would  eventually figure in his future, but it would take a while to happen. J

  1. Oh what fun following various romances along with the family members! And a beach trip or two as well. I am amazed at all your collection of photos which are good that you can identify everyone!

  2. This is like a family tree in photos -- starting with long dresses and bonnets to more modern styles down the generations. All the photos are just great, but I especially love the one of Virginia holding her much younger sister, Peggy. There was a big spread between me and my younger sisters, too, so this photo resonated. Well done!

  3. Like Molly wrote, I like your family tree in photos. I'm most impressed with the number of sibling photos you have. I think there is a subtle difference in personalities that is revealed in photos of brothers and sisters compared to those of mothers/fathers and child. The smiles and affection shown seem more relaxed and authentic.
