HAVING A GOOD TIME
Sisters having a good time
together. My husband’s maternal grandmother,
Lillian Ross Pringle, is on the left.
The sisters are Florence, Mary, & Margaret but I’m not sure which is
which. I think Mary & Margaret are on the right & Florence is next
to Lillian.
A family picnic. Stretched out on the ground is my husband’s
mother, Virginia Brasier, with her mother, Lillian, sitting on the right.
Phyllis and Virginia kick
up their heels.
A few years later Poppy
(Harry Brasier) takes his daughters Phyllis and Virginia, plus either friends
or relatives horseback riding in Yosemite.
From the other side of my
husband’s family we have ladies obviously enjoying their time together. His grandmother, Daisy May Elizabeth Young,
is right front, and I believe that’s her sister behind her - in the late 1930s?
Heading back to the beach –
this time at Capitola (75 miles south of San Francisco) are my Mom & Dad (on
the left – Mom with her back to the camera) in 1937 with friends from the office where they both
worked. There were several young
people working there - some of them couples like my Mom & Dad - who enjoyed getting together to go
places on the weekends.
Another scene on the beach
at Capitola with my Mom on the right this time.
Another outing in 1937 had
the group headed on a ferryboat across the bay on their way to Mount Tamalpais
(pronounced Tamalpie) for a picnic and hiking.
My Mom is the one standing on the right.
Since they were crossing the bay from San Francisco to Marin County on a
ferryboat, this outing must have taken place before the Golden Gate Bridge was
completed and open for traffic in May of that year - May 17 to be exact.
Good times and great photos.
