USING CHILDREN & IMAGES OF CHILDREN IN ADVERTISEMENTS
Why am I posting last week’s post this week? Because my computer was down last week. I was having it updated. I’m sure you’ll laugh at this, but it was being updated from Windows 7 to Windows 11. I hate change and was holding on as long as I could, but when I began to lose access to too many things because my browser was too old and I couldn’t update it because Windows 7 wouldn’t support a browser update, I had to bite the bullet, suck it up, and go for the update. Luckily the fellow who did it managed to make the update look almost like my old program, bless him. So now I’m back online. Yay.
I have to say well-made toffee is yummy! We used to order English Toffee from a company located in one of the towns where we lived until their business really took off and they became too expensive for our purse. A shame for us, but good for them, I guess. Then again, there’s always “Almond Roca”. J
Cellophane began being
used to package food – especially cakes & candy - in the 1920s – 1930s, so
this ad must date somewhere back to that era.
Thank you very much, but I
don’t believe any girl would like to be thought of as husky! “Gives Kids Energy” might have been a better
slogan.
Bread apparently lighter
than air – except I like bread with a firmer, heavier texture.
Outrageous! My jaw was dropped in awe at the later set of ads...from Coke on down! Gracious sakes alive! Babies with soft drinks, and then a little black boy white washing another one! Actually the girl with the Liberty Bond didn't bother me as much as those others. You've found some really good and really unbelievable ads for this prompt. Welcome to Windows 11 - I'm glad that you didn''t lose this blog!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe some of those older ads - especially the last one. And yes, thank goodness I didn't lose my connection to Sepia Saturday, but the fellows who did my update promised I wouldn't lose anything and they kept their word. They did a superb job.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the successful Windows update. And most of those old adverts are downright scary!!! :o
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that you kept Win 7 going for so long and managed to skip over to Win 11 without experiencing Win 8, my favorite. These adverts were outrageous and even more frightening to think that our parents and grandparents might have followed the suggestions. However the Ritz ad caught my attention, not because of the cracker, which is pretty tasty, but because long ago as a toddler I was offered a sample of cottage cheese on a Ritz when my mom took me to a supermarket. Cottage cheese has been my staple food ever since. Thankfully more healthy than Soda Pop!
