BRICK BACKGROUNDS
My Mom and me posing on
our brick front porch with brick walk & brick chimney wall.
Dad and me with the brick
wall around the base of our bay window.
I was 4 when I posed here
on our brick walk with the brick porch and chimney behind me.
The brick chimney, porch,
and walk made a great posing place for my Mom in 1947.
Maybe not so great a place
for me to pose at age 10 in my Mom’s old bathing suit and high heels thinking I was hot
stuff. Good grief – look at that awful
hairdo!
My middle sis and me when
I was 12 and she was 6 or 7. Thank
heaven my hair had grown out and Mom didn’t try to give me another permanent.
My brother and middle sis
playing ping-pong on our terrace with a low brick wall behind them.
Mom and Dad posed in front
of our brick chimney in 1967.
My husband and youngest
daughter caught by surprise in front of the raised brick hearth and wall he built for the woodstove in our Oakhurst house in 1978.
Our daughters with Tigger, the cat, in front of the fireplace in our Groveland home
in 1982. The brick fireplace was massive
and wrapped around into the dining room.
I love brick – probably because I grew up with it. I especially love the look of used brick and when we were
searching for a house and I saw this fireplace, I knew we’d found our new home! J
You certainly found an interesting twist to run with from that photo. Great that it showed off your good looking family. Bricks, who would have thought!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos with you in the same spot by your brick chimney. So many different moods at different ages.
ReplyDeleteThis was a neat detail to use for a theme. My dad often used a brick fireplace wall in our home for the backdrop of family portraits. Similarly my grandparents used a small stoop at the entrance of their brick house for posing countless family pictures. I think brick or stone texture works much better for a backdrop than vague pastel colors.
