IT'S GOOD TO HAVE A FRIEND

My eldest daughter with one of her best friends at Burger King.

Two friends at a soda fountain in the 1930s enjoying a soda and ice cream.

Friends having refreshments together.

Two ladies visit while awaiting their order.  Have they ordered tea?  Or sodas?  Or perhaps they’re here to enjoy some ices?

These ladies have already been served and appear to be enjoying glasses of some sort of beverage as they visit together.  Lemonade, perhaps?

Definitely tea for these ladies along with friendly smiles.

And tea for these cheerful gals, too.  Must be good news in that letter.

Friends chatting over cups of tea.

Passing along the latest on-dit over cups of tea with friends

But it's coffee for my eldest daughter and me.  We're having Irish Crème lattes at Schnoog’s Coffee Shop in Sonora, Calif.  She’s having hers iced, I’m having mine hot.  We go every Friday afternoon at 3:00 on the dot.  On this particular day it was warm with a light breeze - perfect for sitting at our favorite table outside.  The smaller hot cup is a caramel latte to take home to Dad. P.S.

Several years ago I wrote a musical for my 3rd & 4th grade chorus to do for their spring concert and one of the songs in it was called: “It’s Good to Have a Friend”

It’s good to have a friend like you and you.

A friend is always there for all you do.

If you gotta have some help, if you really are in need

Just let out a yelp and a friend will always heed.

Yes, a friend is always there.

Oh, a friend is always there.

It’s good to have a friend like you and you.

A friend is always there, a friend’s true blue.

A friend can make your day when you’re feelin’ kind’a glum.

And when they come to play you can have a lot of fun.

Yes, a friend is always there.

Oh, a friend is always there.

If you should trip and take a fall

Friends will come runnin’ one and all.

A friend is there to share and care

Through good and bad times anywhere.

A friend is always there!

  1. Oh yes, having friends to share with does make life so much better. Those paintings of friends drinking and chatting are wonderful for this week's meme. I am so glad you found them to share. It's also neat to see you and your daughter at a weekly coffee meet-up.

  2. I continue to be impressed how you find perfect matches for our weekly theme in your family photos. The paintings are great too, though how women managed to walk in such long dresses, much less avoid spilling a drink as they sat down at a cafe, is a mystery to me.
