LINEUPS

It took a bit of sleuthing through photo albums and high school year books, but I managed to find a few photos of men lined up for different events.

A few well-dressed gentlemen line up in Yosemite Valley for a photograph with Yosemite’s namesake waterfall behind them in the late 1800s.  My great grandfather, J.K. Smedley, who made the trip to the Valley in 1874 is not among these fellows, but he and his touring compadres did line up for a formal photograph and I imagine it looked something like this one.

One of these fellows is my husband’s grandfather, Harry Brasier.  He might be on the far right but I'm not sure.  These were the six who canoed their way through five lakes in Canada in the late 1800s or early 1900s.

Harry’s hockey team with Harry sitting 3rd in from the left.

1957 - El Cerrito High’s varsity football team.  Back row, far left, is a former boyfriend.

1956 – El Cerrito High’s Del Mar boys club.  I recognize four former boyfriends in this group. J

1957 – El Cerrito High’s 49ers boys club.  Interestingly, there are no ex boyfriends in this group.  I had a crush on one of them but unfortunately, he never became a boyfriend.  Oh well.

Okay, so enough about former boyfriends.  I wound up marrying someone who attended high school in southern California anyway, and he’ll appear in a couple of forthcoming photos.

Men lined up in a row for a skit in the 1974 Gascapades variety show in Gasquet, CA.

Encore ‘dancers’ – 1976 Gascapades: “On the Good Ship Lollypop”.  My husband is the second ‘dancer’ in from the right.  His costume is actually light blue, not white.  And yes, that's a hole in his pantyhose.

1976 – another Gascapades lineup of fellows, including my husband, in a skit whistling to “Bridge on the River Kwai”.  Hubby is on the far right.

1999 – And now from the ridiculous to the sublime:  Our son is second in from the far end of the first row wearing a blue shirt in this photo of graduates having earned their journeyman’s license – necessary for them to become qualified electricians.
