SISTERS

From my husband’s family:  His grandmother, Daisy May Elizabeth Young, seated, with her sister.

My husband’s other grandmother, Lillian Ross Pringle on the right with her 3 older sisters, Margaret Ann, born 1858, Mary Elizabeth, ’60, and Florence May, ‘76 .  Lillian was the youngest born in ‘81. Except for Lillian, I have no idea who’s who?  The girls also had 6 brothers.

Lillian Ross Pringle Brasier’s two daughters, Phyllis, and my husband’s mother, Virginia.  Virginia was the eldest sister, born in 1910.  Phyllis was born two years later in 1912.

Sisters Phyllis and Virginia flank their Mum, Lillian c. 1925

The two sisters kick up their heels.

There was a third sister, Peggy, born in 1925.  Here she’s being held by her eldest sister, Virginia – probably around 1927.

Now to my family.  My paternal great grandmother, Ella Chase Taylor, is seated with her sister, Eliza Taylor, standing beside her.  Ella was the elder sister and was probably around 20 years old in this photo.

The older sister here is my paternal Aunt Harriet, the younger, my Aunt Frances – my Dad’s older sisters.

My Dad’s younger sister, my Aunt Ruth, is the bride with her sister, my Aunt Frances, as her maid of honor in December, 1939.

The shorter sister is my maternal Grandmother, Bertha Louise Parton Whitney – my ‘Grandma Louise’.  Her younger sister is my Great Aunt Maria Carmelita Kellstrom Jorgensen.

Moving onward we come to me and my sisters.  I was either 11 or 12 in this photo making my eldest younger sister, Meredith, around 6 or 7.

Me with my youngest sister, Cindy, in 1957.  I was 17 and she was 8 at the time.

Silly sisters Cindy & Mere trying to do the hands & knees switch-er-roo thing while dancing in 1960 or ’61.

All three of us at Easter in 1963.

And with our Dad in 1967

My sisters were my bridesmaids in 1968

My daughters at ages 4 and 3.  The sisters were 18 months apart in age and I often dressed them alike for fun.

At 9 and 10 playing Bobby Sox Softball.  The younger played first base & shortstop, her older sis was a pitcher.

And at 19 and 18 at the younger sister’s high school graduation.  Older sister went into the marketing field with Intel, while younger sister is a 5th grade teacher.

And the beat goes on.  Twelve years later came the next generation of sisters brought about by the younger sister in the foregoing photo. J
