DADS & GRANDS COMFORTABLY SEATED IN CHAIRS
My husband’s maternal
grandfather, Harry Brasier in light colored suit, relaxing in what appears to
be a rocking chair while visiting with friends in the early 1900s.
My Dad and me relaxing in 1942 in
our favorite backyard garden chairs which he made.
Dad & Mom relaxing in
camp chairs around a campfire at Lake Tahoe probably in 1945.
Dad, in the 1960s relaxing in his
favorite living room chair. My Grandma
Louise peeking in.
Dad relaxing in a rental
cabin chair on a family snow trip in the 1960s.
My Dad relaxing in my
husband’s recliner during a visit at Christmas time, 1974. My husband was fixing something on our eldest
daughter’s jumper.
My Dad, yet reclining in
my husband’s recliner, has a sweet moment with his eldest granddaughter.
Still in the recliner, Dad is looking at something his grandson is pointing out to him.
1975 - My husband finally
relaxing in his own recliner but with our three kidlets climbing on top of him
– a familiar sight. Dads are for
climbing on – especially when they’re sacked out comfortably in their recliners.

Many years later, Hubby, in a newer recliner,
eating a bowl of pudding with our daughter’s cat, Oliver, patiently waiting for him to finish so he can lick the bowl. This would have been sometime prior to 2010.
Some great family photos...loved they are in chronological order! Many a relaxed man enjoying various reclining positions! Good one here! I'm happy that the cat was included along with children!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Perhaps it's a generational thing, but my family owned many similar chairs -- particularly. those rockers and the Adirondack chairs in the second photo (a personal favorite of mine). Very creative take on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly got the chair theme covered. I bet you could have found pics for the little elephant and tiger in Alan's theme photo, too. I am fortunate to have both my maternal grandmother's swan rocker and my grandfather's club chair, too. There are countless family pictures of them sitting in these beautiful upholstered chairs. Both are great examples of 1930s quality furniture that I am proud to have in our vintage house.
ReplyDeleteThe elephant, yes; the tiger, no. :))
DeleteSo many lovely memories of your family seated. My favourites the one of litle you in your own chair alongside ylur father, and the one of Kit surrounded by your children.
