DADS & GRANDS COMFORTABLY SEATED IN CHAIRS

1975 - My husband finally relaxing in his own recliner but with our three kidlets climbing on top of him – a familiar sight.  Dads are for climbing on – especially when they’re sacked out comfortably in their recliners. J

Many years later, Hubby, in a newer recliner, eating a bowl of pudding with our daughter’s cat, Oliver, patiently waiting for him to finish so he can lick the bowl.  This would have been sometime prior to 2010. 

A few years later (2017), my husband is relaxing on the beach at Meeks Bay, Lake Tahoe, in a comfy beach chair.

    Some great family photos...loved they are in chronological order! Many a relaxed man enjoying various reclining positions! Good one here! I'm happy that the cat was included along with children!

    Great post! Perhaps it's a generational thing, but my family owned many similar chairs -- particularly. those rockers and the Adirondack chairs in the second photo (a personal favorite of mine). Very creative take on the prompt.

    You certainly got the chair theme covered. I bet you could have found pics for the little elephant and tiger in Alan's theme photo, too. I am fortunate to have both my maternal grandmother's swan rocker and my grandfather's club chair, too. There are countless family pictures of them sitting in these beautiful upholstered chairs. Both are great examples of 1930s quality furniture that I am proud to have in our vintage house.

    So many lovely memories of your family seated. My favourites the one of litle you in your own chair alongside ylur father, and the one of Kit surrounded by your children.

TENTING IN TENTS ON THE OL' CAMPGROUND

  My husband’s grandfather, Harry Brasier, before he was married so sometime before 1909, went canoeing across five Canadian lakes with several friends.  These are two of those friends sitting in front of their tent somewhere on the shore of one of those Canadian lakes. My Dad and his younger sister in front of the family tent at Meeks Bay, Lake Tahoe in the early 1920s. My Dad in the early 1930s with his one man wonder tent. 1945 – My Mom stands in front of the inherited Bradley family tent during a short camping get-away with my Dad on a break from dealing with three little children 5 years old and younger. A PICNIC IS A PICNIC WHEREVER YOU HAPPEN TO BE – SAND, DIRT, GRASS, ROCKS, PATIOS, DECKS, A LIVING ROOM FLOOR, OR AN OLD HELICOPTER PAD

  Summer, 1962.  Picnic IN the sand.  You’ve seen this picture before.  We were at Stinson Beach and the wind was blowing pretty hard, but we hunkered down behind the sand dunes and on this particular trip, managed to eat our lunch without crunching on too much sand.  And yes, there was the time we went to Stinson and gave up picnicking there because it was just too windy, coming home to eat our lunch on a blanket spread out on the living room floor in front of a cheery fire Dad built in the fireplace.  But hey, it was still a picnic! J Stinson Beach.  It’s always windy here because it’s so wide open.  But it’s a great place to explore.
